Exam Timer

Set the length of the paper with the timer's own buttons, 1 hour, 1.5 hours, 2 hours or 3 hours, and press start. It is the same pomofox timer as the homepage: the fox runs laps as the exam time runs down, and the fullscreen button in the menu turns it into a clean timer for a mock exam in a classroom.

For exams with fixed sections, the practice timers below have a button for each section, right on the timer, and the official structure on the page.

Practice timers for each exam

Each page lists the official sections with their timing and the pace per question, and its timer's buttons are that exam's sections in place of the pomodoro ones.

Running a mock exam at home

  1. Same time of day as the real exam, so your brain is practising at the hour it will perform.
  2. Clear desk, only what the exam allows. Phone in another room.
  3. Full screen the timer from the menu so it is the only thing on the screen.
  4. No pausing. If something interrupts you, note the minutes lost and carry on.
  5. Mark it the next day, and log the score and the time you ran out, if you did.

Long single-paper exams

Some exams are one long paper rather than separate sections. NEET UG and JEE Main are both three hours (180 questions for NEET, 75 for JEE Main), and most university finals are two or three hours. Use the 2 hours or 3 hours button. For the weeks before, a daily pomodoro timer plan beats cramming, and the finals week schedule shows one way to lay out the last week.

Frequently asked questions

Can I make the exam timer full screen?

Yes. Use the fullscreen button in the menu, and the timer is the only thing on the screen.

Does the exam timer keep running in a background tab?

Yes. It keeps counting while you use another tab or window, and the alarm plays when the time is up.

Can I set a length that is not on the buttons?

Yes. The countdown timer takes any length in hours, minutes and seconds.
